Integrity is what you do when no one is looking. Integrity is being the same person in every situation. Integrity is when your actions match your words.
We just started a sermon series that we call "Working on our Core." We are looking at the core values of our church. As you might expect for a church like ours, one of our core values is integrity.
Integrity is essential for success as a leader, and for healthy relationships. Having said that, integrity is more than a useful characteristic in a healthy life. Our Lord Jesus Christ brought integrity to the world. The key Bible verse for Integrity Church is from the first chapter of the Letter to the Colossians, where it says, "He is before all things, and in him all things hold together." Jesus is the one who made the world, he is the purpose of the world, and he is the one who sustains the world. He is the one who keeps the world from unravelling into chaos. He is the one who holds all things together. He takes this world that tends to unravel, and he makes it hold together.
On Sunday we will look at the quality of integrity and how we acquire it. We will see how our personal integrity comes from our faith in Jesus, the one who holds the entire cosmos together.
