Some organizations are tough to get into. You have to have good references and be vetted by the existing members. Maybe there are requirements about attendance or paying dues or volunteering. Some organizations have high expectations.
Other organizations are not so tough to get into. They take anyone who wants to join. Maybe they are desperate for members, and don't feel they can afford to be choosy. Maybe they genuinely want to communicate an atmosphere of acceptance and welcome. Some organizations have minimal expectations.
The church has minimal expectations. The church has the highest expectations. On the one hand, anyone can join the church, merely on profession of faith. The church is the embodiment of Jesus' saying,"Whosoever will." On the other other, only a select few can join the church. Only those who are willing to take up their cross and follow Jesus can be part of the body of Christ, which is the church.
On Bible study meets online tomorrow evening at 6:30. We will be looking at the 15th chapter of the Book of Acts, and the membership requirements of the church. Please join us.
